2D animation in a new fresh and different style. 422's new take on bringing Neanderhals to life in vivid action scenes for a major two hour special for The History Channel.

422 were approached by New York based KPITV's Chief Creative Officer Vinnie Kralyvich to create animations in a fresh new style. Instead of the usual 3D CGI, Kralyvich and his producer Chris Cassell were looking for a punchy, 2D, multi-layered style for telling their story of Neanderthal cave men pitched against our own ancestors - the CroMagnons.
422's Art Director Eduardo Schaal and animator Marina Ellerington created 10 scenes, which were then interwoven with live action recreations with actors shot in east Europe.

Additional sequences were created by Senior Designer Charles Golding, sympathetically incorporating elements of Schaal's distinctive drawn style, with Maya and other 2D graphics, to show the physiological differences between the two species, and maps to show the range of their distribution across europe .

Airs120 minutes going out on May 10th at 5 p.m., 11th at 8.p.m. and 12th at 12. a.m.
