Major 11 x hours series on Evolution for Optomen USA and The History Channel

422's design and CGI teams produced stylish explanatory graphics for a major 13 hour series now airing on History Channel. The brief was to create a distinct series style for animations explaining the evolutionary development of organs such as eyes and jaws, or characteristics such as flight.

The designers created a 'white room' space that would be inhabited by Maya CGI elements, chromakeyed live action clips and After FX 2D animations. The result is a clean, but elegant and versatile device for illustrating developments that are sometimes difficult to grasp.

422's CGI team also generated 'day in the life' animations - scenes from prehistoric times, such as dinosaurs locked in a reproductive embrace, or those ancient ancestors of almost all living creatures - the Burgess Shale fossils brought to life.
