Animal physiology Test

Client: 422

A short test animation treating the body of a cheetah as if it's a piece of engineering.

This test was a bit of fun. How to explain the key physiological characteristics of a living creature in a new and interesting way ?

The cheetah is a killing machine that's built for speed. He has a super flexible spine and muscles capable of explosive power.

Rather than following the usual CGI cliches, 422's designers wanted to emulate the style of plastic model kit instruction manuals. Animator Nick Hales used a Maya toon shader to create the basic CGI animation in a digrammatic style. Art director Graham Watts put the finishing touches together in After Effects, with neat audio FX from 'Clink' Clinkscale.

We hope this is the first of many animal physiology explanations..
